PostHog layers inside every wordpress site.
PostHog doesn't ship a maintained official WordPress plugin. The standard install is a script tag that you paste into your theme — which loses on theme switches and has no validation if you mistype the token.

most product teams stitch four tools (analytics + replay + flags + experiments) and pay four bills. PostHog covers the lot from a single `phc_` token.

questions before you switch hosts for PostHog.
Why PostHog over Mixpanel or Amplitude?
PostHog covers analytics, feature flags, session replay, surveys, and A/B tests from one SDK — Mixpanel and Amplitude only do analytics. If you'd otherwise need three tools, PostHog often replaces them.
Is PostHog actually free?
PostHog Cloud has a free tier covering 1M events/month, 5K replays, and 1M flag requests. Most small WordPress sites stay within free indefinitely. Self-hosting is also free, with infrastructure cost only.
Does PostHog respect EU consent?
Yovale gates the SDK behind the analytics consent signal. If the visitor declined analytics cookies, PostHog doesn't load. PostHog's own EU host (eu.i.posthog.com) handles data residency separately.
Can I self-host PostHog and point Yovale at it?
Yes. The api_host field accepts your own PostHog instance URL. Self-hosting requires Kubernetes or Docker — see PostHog's deployment docs.
Will PostHog session replay slow down my site?
Session replay adds bandwidth (uploading rrweb event streams) but minimal CPU. Most sites see no measurable performance impact.
narrower tools that PostHog often replaces.
