March 2024: Google enforced Consent Mode v2. Sites that didn't pass `ad_storage` and `ad_user_data` signals to gtag had their EU campaigns silently lose attribution. Most WordPress Google Ads plugins took weeks to update.

consent mode v2 ships the gtag signals from the moment the visitor lands. the AW- conversion ID + label round-trips back to Google Ads — even on iOS Safari, even with declined cookies.

Yovale validates the `AW-` shape at save. the MU-plugin renders the gtag tag in `<head>`, gated against marketing consent.

questions before you switch hosts for Google Ads.
Does this support Google Consent Mode v2?
Yes. The Yovale injector wires ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization from the marketing_storage signal. EU campaigns keep attributing post-March-2024 without a plugin update.
Do I need a separate GA4 integration too?
Not for conversion tracking — the AW- tag handles Google Ads conversions. But GA4 is the underlying analytics layer Google uses; running both gives you Ads attribution and GA4 reporting.
What's the difference between a conversion ID and a conversion label?
The ID (AW-XXXXXXX) identifies your account. The label identifies a specific conversion (Purchase, Signup, Lead). The base tag fires with just the ID — the label adds specificity for conversion goal reporting.
Can I use Google Ads with GTM?
Yes — many teams manage all gtag.js tags through GTM. Or run direct via Yovale and skip GTM. Both paths work.
Will the page cache break the Google Ads tag?
No. The snippet is part of the cached HTML. Marketing consent state lives on a `<html>` class so the cache key stays page-level.
